Ferrari BR20
For many years now, Ferrari has enabled selected VIP customers to have their own cars built as one-offs. The latest project has now rolled out of the production halls in Maranello. It goes by the cryptic name BR20 and is based on the platform of a GTC4Lusso. Unlike that model, however, the BR20 is a two-seater sports car. When it came to design, Ferrari and the customer were inspired by predecessor model series from the 1950s and 60s. Nostalgia and retro design, however, are alien to the car. Instead, the team under design chief Flavio Manzoni combined muscular sportiness with timeless elegance. Compared with the GTC4Lusso, the rear overhang is three centimeters longer. This increase benefits the silhouette and proportions. Two arches extend from the A-pillars to the rear spoiler, the rear section of which has been hollowed out to create an aerodynamic duct. The air flows out again at the rear under the spoiler. The roof itself shines in black.
Visible carbon elements
Ferrari thus visually connects the windshield with the rear window. The latter sits almost floating above the rear end. Below the rear spoiler lip are four round taillights, whose design is also found further down on the exhaust tailpipes. The engineers integrated active flaps into the carbon diffuser to control the airflow. Below the doors, high carbon sills curving into the front fenders add an additional touch of dynamism. At the front, the wide radiator grille in conjunction with the LED headlights provide the appropriate family look. New chrome details emphasize the car’s driving side, according to Ferrari. Also new are the 20-inch alloy wheels in a tone-on-tone diamond finish. Due to the fastback lines with a sloping roof, there would hardly have been enough room in the rear for two additional occupants. For this reason, the customer commissioning the car deliberately dispensed with the seating options.
Brown interior
For the interior, the customer opted for two different brown leather colors and exposed carbon. Thus, the seats wear dark brown “Testa di Moro” heritage leather with an exclusive pattern and silver cross-stitch trim. This classic leather is also found on the center armrest and as partial trim in the rear. Other areas such as the door panels, steering wheel or dashboard show up in brown smooth leather. Instead of the rear seats, there is a luggage rack with oak trim integrated with carbon inlays. Under the hood is the 6.3-liter V12 engine from the GTC4Lusso with 507 kW/690 hp and 697 Nm of torque. Ferrari didn’t provide any details on the BR20’s performance. The base car has enough power to accelerate from a standstill to 62 mph in 3.4 seconds and then on to a topspeed of 208 mph.
