Ford Mustang Bullitt Kona Blue

With the special edition Mustang Bullitt Ford commemorates the eponymous blockbuster movie starring Steve McQueen in the lead role, which is still known for the epic car chase. Back then, McQueen pursued a gang of criminals over the hills of San Francisco in his private dark green Mustang GT390 in his role as police lieutenant Frank Bullitt. This film has nowadays cult character, which explains the special editions again and again, based on newer Ford Mustangs.

New this time is that the Ford Mustang Bullitt is offered for the first time officially in Europe. There, the demand quickly outstripped supply. After all, the car is limited worldwide. It is also only available in ‘Montana green metallic’ or ‘Iridium Black mica’. In the USA prices start at 46,595 US$ plus local taxes.

Now the Americans are raffling a very special Mustang Bullitt in favor of medical research on the prevention of diabetes among juveniles through the ‘Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation’ (JDRF). This ‘Kona Blue’ colored car debuted this weekend at the Woodward Dream Cruise, which also was the start date of selling raffle tickets for this car. There will be a total of 60,000 tickets priced at 10 US$ each, offered until the November 9. The winner will be announced on November 13.

In addition to the blue paint, this car gets its alloy wheels in unique grey paint and blue contrast stitching. A five-liter naturally aspirated V8 engine with 480 hp accelerates the Coupé up to a topspeed of 163 mph. As with the model from the 1968 movie, only a few logos and badges are used. However, at the rear a special Bullitt logo ensures a direct recognition.
