Jacob & Co. x Bugatti Chiron Tourbillon

Recently a cooperation has been established between the Bugatti sports car brand and the exclusive watch manufacturer Jacob & Co. Together they developed the idea of transferring the visceral sensation of the W16 engine from the Bugatti Chiron to a wristwatch. In order to adequately reproduce this high-performance engine, absolute precision and the highest quality of craftsmanship were required. All in all, more than a year of development work went into the now presented Jacob & Co. x Bugatti Chiron Tourbillon. For this purpose, the entire movement was designed specifically like the W16 engine block and is now concealed under solid sapphire glass.

By pressing the right crown on the case, the engine is started. As in the original, the pistons move in the cylinder tracks by revolutions of the one-piece crankshaft. This is one of the smallest and most complicated components ever developed for a watch. This is one of the smallest and most complicated components ever developed for a watch. In addition, two turbochargers next to the engine block start the engine. At this point one had to deviate a little from the original for reasons of space, where there are even four turbochargers. Sapphire glass inserts on the sides and underside of the case also offer a view into the casing. The four suspension points of the movement remind optically of the dampers of the Chiron. They skilfully cushion up and down movements. In total, the movement consists of 578 individual parts.

Further limited wristwatches within the Twin Turbo Furious collection and the Bugatti Chiron lines from Jacob & Co. are planned for the rest of 2020. Bugatti hasn’t yet provided any information on the prices.
