Koenigsegg Jesko Absolut
Last year Koenigsegg presented the new Jesko as the successor to the successful Agera series at the Geneva International Motor Show (GIMS). Already during this premiere, company founder Christian von Koenigsegg, who named the sports cars after his father, spoke of the fact that there will be two different versions of the Jesko. The car shown in 2019 represents the version with high downforce for use on race tracks. For this year, he then announced the presentation of the second version for achieving top speeds. Since the GIMS 2020 was cancelled without replacement due to the Corona virus, the Swedish sports car brand now showed the Jesko Absolut in a live stream. According to their own statements, it will be the fastest vehicle ever to roll out of their halls in Ängelholm/Sweden. At the same time they promise that no further efforts will be made afterwards to ever surpass the attainable values and speeds of the Jesko Absolut.
In order to achieve really high top speeds, Koenigsegg intensively studied the aerodynamics of the Jesko. A reduced front spoiler lip, the omission of the canards mounted on the sides at the front and, above all, deleting the rear wing result in a cD value of just 0.278. Behind the rollbars on the bonnet, two fins run to the rear which provide stability at high speeds. Their design was inspired by the F-15 fighter jet. In addition, the openings of the rear rims are covered, the ground clearance is reduced and the air outlets above the front wheels and in the front bonnet are omitted. However, it is still possible to remove the roof and store it in the front trunk.
The five-liter V8 biturbo engine under the rear bonnet still delivers 1,600 hp when running on E85 fuel. As in the previously presented normal Jesko, a nine-speed transmission developed and built by Koenigsegg provides propulsion with virtually no shifting times. According to internal calculations, the car should reach speeds far beyond all previous Koenigsegg models (that would be more than 450 kph/277 mph) and even more than all production cars of other brands offered so far (that would be more than 483 kph/300 mph). Exactly when the necessary record attempts will start was left open.
