Porsche 911 (992) Targa 4S HDE

In the near future, Porsche will launch a new special model series under the title ‘Heritage Design Edition’. In total, there will be four different models, with interruptions in time between their launches. The first one is based on the recently presented 911 (992) Targa 4S. In the Porsche Exclusive Manufaktur, the designers combined the latest 911 generation with details from the 1950s and 60s. The exclusive color ‘Cherrymetallic’ in combination with gold-colored lettering and white foil details in ‘spear’ form on top of the front fenders, start number fields on the doors and white Porsche lettering above the sills, makes the car specifically reminiscent of very early racing cars from Zuffenhausen. A specially designed Heritage badge is attached to the grille of the rear air intake, the look of which is based on those badges that used to be awarded to 356 customers after reaching 100,000 kilometers. There is an alternative choice of four further colors for the bodywork.

On the front bonnet, wheel hubs, vehicle keys and steering wheel, as well as embossed in the headrests and key case, the Porsche logo can be found in the classic form from 1963. Behind the 20″ wheels in the front and 21″ wheels in the rear in Carrera Exclusive Design are the black painted brake calipers. Inside, the Porsche Exclusive Manufaktur uses a two-tone leather interior in either Bordeaux Red and Atacama Beige or alternatively in Black and Atacama Beige. Seat center panels and parts of the door panels wear corduroy velvet, a material that was already used in the 1950s in the 356. The rev counter and stopwatch have dials in classic look with green illumination. The perforated headlining also quotes the early 911 models. Above the glove box, a special metal badge in the 911 design sits on the trim strip and indicates the respective vehicle number within the limited edition. In total, only 992 examples of the 911 Targa 4S Heritage Design Edition are being produced.

Technically, Porsche changes nothing. The special edition model therefore has a 331 kW/450 hp strong six-cylinder boxer engine with two turbochargers. This power is transmitted to the permanent all-wheel drive system by an eight-speed double-clutch gearbox. This enables the Targa 4S to accelerate from a standstill to 62 mph in 3.6 seconds and to reach a topspeed of up to 189 mph. To match the 911 Targa 4S Heritage Design Edition, Porsche Design created a chronograph which, like the car, is limited to 992 units. Together with the car, the watch will be delivered to waiting customers from autumn 2020. Porsche hasn’t yet provided any information on the price.
