Porsche 911 (992) Turbo S

As the new top model of the 992 series, the latest generation of the 911 Turbo was to debut at the Geneva International Motor Show (GIMS). As this motorshow had to be cancelled, Porsche presented the vehicle online instead. Interestingly enough, the normal version was directly overlooked and the Turbo S version will be first on the market. Until the 997 series, the S version was only available as a final special edition model shortly before the end of the production period. With the 991, Turbo and Turbo S were launched at the same time. Now, the 992 Turbo S is available as Coupé and Cabriolet right from the start. On the body side, fenders are widened by 45 millimeters at the front and 20 millimeters at the rear. This has also made it possible to widen the track on both axles.

At the rear sits a 3.8-liter six-cylinder boxer engine with biturbo charging. Both turbochargers have variable turbine geometry (VTG), which means they can adjust to the respective driving conditions and always deliver the best possible amount of boost pressure. This pressure flows through completely redesigned intercoolers and waste gates with electrically adjustable flaps. The use of piezo injection valves helps the car to achieve better response, higher performance, better torque curve, better rev reaction and better emission behavior. Compared to the 991 Turbo S, Porsche increased the power by 70 to now 650 hp, while the maximum torque climbed by 50 to now 800 newtonmeters. An eight-speed dual-clutch gearbox transmits the power to the permanent four-wheel drive system and accelerates the new 911 Turbo S from standstill to 62 mph in 2.7 seconds. To 124 mph it takes only 8.9 seconds, which is a full second faster than the 991 Turbo S. The sports car reaches its topspeed at 205 mph. The ‘Porsche Active Suspension Management’ sports suspension (PASM) with ten millimeters lowering and a flap-controlled sports exhaust system round off the technology package.

In addition to the front spoiler extending below the front and the upper element of the rear wing, adaptive aerodynamics now also include cooling air flaps in the front, which open or close under temperature control. On the rear lid sits a wing which has been significantly enlarged compared to the previous model, thus generating 15 percent more downforce combined with the front spoiler. Double narrow daytime running lights are integrated into the outer air inlets of the front bumper, while above them the LED matrix headlights turn night into day as standard.

All Porsche 992 Turbo S models come ex works with two-tone leather upholstery, decorative strips in Lightsilver and carbon fibre trim. Further leather equipment in special color combinations can be ordered from Porsche Exclusive Manufaktur. As a tribute to the very first 911 Turbo (930) from 1975, the outer seat parts are quilted. The center console features a 10.9-inch touchscreen display for Porsche Communication Management (PCM), which is standard equipment along with the Sport Chrono Package with integrates Porsche Track Precision App, the GT sports steering wheel and the Bose surround sound system.

As a Coupé, the new Porsche 911 (992) Turbo S costs from 218,181 € and as a Cabriolet at least 231,747 € (including German VAT).
