Porsche Boxster 25 Years
The Porsche Boxster made its debut as an entry-level model a quarter of a century ago. Three years earlier, a concept car had already caused a stir at the Detroit Motor Show. Since 1996, more than 357,000 Boxsters have rolled off the production line in four model generations. To mark the anniversary, a limited special edition model based on the 718 Boxster 4.0 is now available. A total of just 1,250 individually numbered units are to be built. Porsche is not making any changes to the power output of the four-liter naturally aspirated boxer engine. It remains at 294 kW/400 hp. A manual six-speed gearbox and a seven-speed dual-clutch gearbox (PDK) are available for power transmission. With PDK, the car accelerates to 62 mph in four seconds and on to a topspeed of 182 mph.
Color accents in Neodyme
As a contrast to the available paint colors ‘GT Silver metallic’, ‘Carrara White metallic’ and ‘Deep Black metallic’, the design department reinterpreted the color shade Neodyme. This shimmering copper brown already adorned the Boxster concept car in 1993. On the Boxster 25, corresponding color accents can be found on the front bumper, the side air intakes, the inner parts of the redesigned 20-inch rims and the model lettering. The soft top is available in red or black with embossed ‘Boxster 25’ lettering to match. The windshield frame is in glossy black. Beneath the fuel filler flap is an aluminium filler cap with Porsche lettering from the Exclusive range. The two tailpipes of the sports exhaust system are visible under the rear bumper.
1,250 units available from March
The leather in the interior also matches the color of the soft top. Standard equipment also includes 14-way electrically adjustable sports seats, the Aluminium interior package, door sill trims with ‘Boxster 25’ lettering and the heated GT multifunction sports leather steering wheel. The base price of the Porsche Boxster 25 is 94,986 € including German VAT. First examples will roll into dealerships in March.
